We hope everybody is enjoying the holiday season and wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!

The trees have turned orange, yellow and red and the cold air has arrived. In fact, rumor is that there could be snow on the ground for Halloween! In the meantime, our crew has been hard at work building our newest bunks in the Braves Area. Pictured below, this will be two separate bunks. Keep checking back as we are working on a lot of projects around camp and will keep you updated!

Second Session has begun at Camp Cobbossee.  Campers and Staff are excited for the next three and half weeks of activities, special events and more!

It’s official, campers have arrived and First Session 2011 is underway. Time to have some fun as we celebrate our 110th summer.

Camp Cobbossee is honored to announce that our very own Head of Basketball and Czar of Traditions, Mike “Griff” Griffin has been named the Coach of the Year for the Liberty League.  Griff is the men’s basketball head coach for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute(RPI).  RPI Basketball plays in the Division III Liberty League.  This year, Griff’s team was picked to finish 6th in the league, but with a great team effort and coaching, they finished in first place.

Griff lead the RPI Engineers to a 17-7 record which included losses to Division III Powerhouses Williams College and Middlebury.  You can read more about Griff’s recent honor by clicking on the link below:

We wanted to share with you a great article we saw recently about sportsmanship.  We thought it did a great job of outlining what sportsmanship really is and how athletes young to old can conduct themselves on the field of play.

As our campers and staff know, good sportsmanship is the main goal whenever we take to the field at Camp Cobbossee.  While winning is fun, we know that our boys want to have fun and enjoy the game that they are playing.  Unfortunately, we hear all to much about a lack of sportsmanship in both amateur and professional sports.  With the assistance of our staff, we emphasize the true meaning of sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Cobbossee’s own, Mike Griffin, better known as G-r-i-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f…Grrrriffff, Grrrrrifff….has coached his Rensselaer Polytechnic Insititue(RPI) Men’s Basketball team to the Liberty League Tournament.  The RPI Engineers were picked to finish 6th in their conference and are now headed into the weekend with a chance to capture first place.  You can read more about their recent victory that got them into the playoffs by clicking on the link below:
