We couldn’t agree more about what camp means to today’s generation. This is a great article about getting kids to camp. Every child should experience a summer at camp!
So at first you might be wondering why we have posted a picture of a Yellow Squash…no, it’s not a new meal that Chef Louis Lee is working on. Instead, we are excited to announce that Camp Cobbossee will become only the second known outdoor Squash court in all of the United States. We have spoken with the US Squash Asscociation and they are very excited with our new facility. We will be converting the hitting wall area into two squash courts. They will be slightly modified for “camp” purposes, but will give all of our boys a chance to try out a “new” sport or practice if they are already playing.
Do you play Squash? If so, let us know as we are excited to have this as part of our program!
And for those that are wondering, here is some more information on what Squash is:
Squash is a high-speed racquet sport played by two players (or in doubles 4 players on court at a time) in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. (Our courts are being built for 2 player games)

The trees have turned orange, yellow and red and the cold air has arrived. In fact, rumor is that there could be snow on the ground for Halloween! In the meantime, our crew has been hard at work building our newest bunks in the Braves Area. Pictured below, this will be two separate bunks. Keep checking back as we are working on a lot of projects around camp and will keep you updated!
We have begun to register both new and returning families for Summer 2012. You can register online or print a registration form by going to link below:
Your vote counts! Please take a minute to vote on the name of the new Braves’ Bunk. The bunk is getting the finishing touches and we can’t wait to have the first campers stay in it this summer.
Camp Cobbossee is honored to announce that our very own Head of Basketball and Czar of Traditions, Mike “Griff” Griffin has been named the Coach of the Year for the Liberty League. Griff is the men’s basketball head coach forRensselaer Polytechnic Institute(RPI). RPI Basketball plays in the Division III Liberty League. This year, Griff’s team was picked to finish 6th in the league, but with a great team effort and coaching, they finished in first place.
Griff lead the RPI Engineers to a 17-7 record which included losses to Division III Powerhouses Williams College and Middlebury. You can read more about Griff’s recent honor by clicking on the link below:
