Boys Overnight Summer Camp Counselor Jobs

Camp Cobbossee Staff
Every counselor at Cobbossee is both an instructor in one of our many programs and a cabin counselor to a group of boys. Our goal is to provide motivated and energetic people with opportunities to create exciting and memorable experiences for our campers and for themselves.

We have jobs available in the following areas:

Team Sports: Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Street & Roller Hockey, Lacrosse
Individual Sports: Tennis, Golf, Archery, Fitness & Weight Training
Water Sports: Water-ski, Wake-boarding, Knee Boarding, Sailing, Windsurfing, Kayak, Canoe, Swimming, Fishing, & Tubing
Special Interest: Arts & Crafts, Woodworking, Rocketry, Photography, Newspaper, Radio
Outdoor Adventure: Rock Climbing, Ropes and Challenge Course, Hiking and Camping, Nature
Support Staff: Nurse, Secretary, Kitchen, Maintenance

Our counselors live in a cabin with campers. A typical cabin at Cobbossee has 8 to 12 boys (depending on age) living with 2-3 staff members. The cabins are comfortable and all contain bathrooms & electricity.

Counselors arrive at camp prior to June 15th to begin a six day Orientation where staff learn the "ins and outs" of Cobbossee. During this time staff are assigned to the age group and cabin where they will live during the summer. This is also a time when counselors will become acquainted with the policies & procedures of camp and will be given many ideas to use when dealing with camper issues during the summer.

Camp Cobbossee Staff
Most counselors at Cobbossee have dual roles. Our counselors are hired as "activity specialists" teaching in one or more of our activity areas as well a "bunk counselor" living in cabins with the boys. Counselors work under the supervision of an area Group Leader, who oversees all aspects of a particular age group, and the Activity Head, who oversees the activity area in which a counselor is teaching. Our Group Leaders and Activity Heads are teachers and coaches who have tremendous experience working with kids. They provide their staff with a great set of resources for teaching, coaching & dealing with problems.

Camp Cobbossee Staff
Counselors must come to Cobbossee with a true love of children, a high level of patience, a good sense of humor and a solid work ethic. Working with kids is one of the greatest experiences in the world and comes with tremendous rewards. Working with children can also bring stress and frustration. Working at Cobbossee will give you a tremendous feeling of satisfaction as you help kids to grow, improve their skills, & become more independent. Being a counselor at Cobbossee will be a fun & memorable experience, "where Friendships are made for a lifetime."
