Summer Camp Resources and Information Camp Cobbossee is afflilated with several professional camping associations, camp community groups and local organizations. Camp Cobbossee is also accredited by the American Camp Association. To learn more about what this accreditation means click here. Camping Associations ACA – Josh and Jill are both active in the ACA (American Camp Association). Josh currently resides on the Exhibitor Committee for ACA Tri-State Conference, the premier conference on youth development in the country and brings together the largest audience of camp professionals in one venue. In addition, Josh has been a speaker presenting on multiple topics involving both campers and staff. EPIC – Josh formerly resided on the EPIC (Emerging Professionals in Camping) Committee. EPIC was developed to assist professionals in camping through a series of conference experiences, social gatherings, round tables, book clubs and more. Jill was also a member of EPIC. Both enjoy sharing their experiences with the next generation of camp professionals. MYCA – Camp Cobbossee is a member of MYCA (Maine Youth Camp Association). The mission of the Maine Youth Camping Association (MYCA) is to strengthen and expand the educational, environmental and recreational opportunities provided by all organized Youth Camps in Maine by fostering the exchange of information and ideas; interpreting and coordinating activities that will enhance cooperation between the organized youth camping movement and various private, non-profit, public, and governmental interests and agencies; and identifying and creating research, programs, projects and services that will improve the quality and safety of youth experiences in Maine's organized camps.  Camping Community Charitable Organizations America's Camp – America's Camp is a fun, one-week, sleep away camp for children who lost a parent or sibling in the attacks on September 11 and for children or siblings of firefighters and law enforcement officers lost in the line of duty at any time. Both Josh and Jill have volunteered at America's Camp and assist them throughout the year. In addition, staff from Cobbossee volunteers for the week long camp. Through Cobba-Kids for Kids, Cobbossee campers and staff raise money for the continuing operation of America's Camp. Our Community & Lake Cobbosseecontee Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed – Organization dedicated to preserving our lake – Lake Cobbosseecontee – and the 27 other area lakes that make up the Cobbossee watershed. The American Camp Association(ACA) is a community of camp professionals who, for nearly 100 years, have joined together to share our knowledge and experience and to ensure the quality of camp programs. In addition to being actively involved in the ACA and many of its organizations, Camp Cobbossee is an accredited camp. ACA Accreditation means that your child's camp cares enough to undergo a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of its operation – from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth service agencies to assure that current practices at your child's camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.
