Congratulations Coach Mike “Griff” Griffin – Liberty League Coach of the Year

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Camp Cobbossee is honored to announce that our very own Head of Basketball and Czar of Traditions, Mike “Griff” Griffin has been named the Coach of the Year for the Liberty League.  Griff is the men’s basketball head coach for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute(RPI).  RPI Basketball plays in the Division III Liberty League.  This year, Griff’s team was picked to finish 6th in the league, but with a great team effort and coaching, they finished in first place.

Griff lead the RPI Engineers to a 17-7 record which included losses to Division III Powerhouses Williams College and Middlebury.  You can read more about Griff’s recent honor by clicking on the link below:

Camp Cobbossee Goes to Tri-State Camp Conference

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

The Camp Cobbossee crew recently returned from the American Camp Association’s Tri-State Camp Conference. This conference is a 4-day event held at the Atlantic City Conference Center. Over 3000 attendees from camps coast to coast and around the world attend the event in addition to exhibitors from many different industries.

The conference included over 100 sessions specific to camp, children, staff and parents. As attendees, we had the opportunity to hear from many speakers and seasoned veterans in the camp industry. In addition, we also enjoyed the keynote speakers, Shawn Anchor and Henry Winkler (aka the Fonz or for the younger generations, the coach from Waterboy).

The conference was very educational and productive. We brought back many new ideas and suggestions on how to continue to make camp even better.

While at Tri-State, we also had the chance to go to the Annual SCOPE dinner. SCOPE, Summer Camp Opportunities Provides an Edge, is a foundation that helps underprivileged children go to camp. Camp Cobbossee is a proud supporter of SCOPE. Keep an eye out in our next newsletter as we will be talking more about how Camp Cobbossee and our camp community can help give back SCOPE and many other charities.
